On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the 4.5 inch shell room between 19 and 23 stations on 4 deck looking forward and to starboard from 21½ station showing the shell room contents board mounted on the end of a stowage rack which is covered in polythene sheeting. The board has the headings 'Shell room contents', small arms ammunitions and fuzes', 'Torpedo armament', 'G.E. stores' and 'Items stowed in compartment'. A vertical format negative.
