On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the passageway, known as the Burma Road, between 41 and 49 stations on 2 deck looking forward and to port from 45 station showing the door to the scullery, the door to the officers' galley and the open watertight door in the bulkhead at 41 station. The control panel for the boat hoist winch is on the left of the scullery door. A tannoy, a distribution box and a hose nozzle are on the bulkhead next to the officer's galley door.
