On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the passageway, known as the Burma Road, between 41 and 49 stations on 2 deck looking forward and to starboard from 45 station showing the hot water urn between the servery and the funnel uptake. A fire hose stowage rack is on the deck. Access doors, marked' Z 2/5K PORT', to the safety valves are in the bulkhead of the funnel uptake. A vertical format negative.
