On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the passageway, known as the Burma Road, between 30¾ and 41 stations on 2 deck looking forward and to port from 39 station showing a number of electrical supply panels, a starter panel and an emergency diesel generator which is enclosed in a wooden cabinet. A cable stowage bracket and a fire main are on the left. The door to the officers' W.C. is on the right.
