On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the passageway, known as the Burma Road, between 30¾ and 41 stations on 2 deck looking aft and up at the deckhead from 37 station showing the stairs leading up to 1 deck in the left foreground. The door to the officers' W.Cs is on the right with cable stowage brackets next to it. The open watertight door in the bulkhead at 41 station is in the background. The deckhead is covered by cable runs and lagged pipework. A vertical format negative.
