On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the passageway, known as the Burma Road, between 23 and 30¾ stations on 2 deck looking forward from 25 station showing the open watertight door at 23 station with cable stowage brackets on the right. Beyond the door are an auxiliary pump and generator unit and the door to the canteen. A vertical format negative.
