On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the passageway, known as the Burma Road, between 23 and 30¾ stations on 2 deck looking forward and to port from 26 station showing the fire party cupboard on the left with the door to the communications control receiving room next to it and the damage control cupboard on the forward side of the door. A first aid cabinet and a damage control breathing aparatus cabinet are against the bulkhead in the background. A telephone and a cupboard containing a DCBA (damage control breathing apparatus) spare hose and face mask are on the right. A vertical format negative.
