The Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960). In the passageway between 23 and 30¾ stations on 2 deck.

On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the passageway, known as the Burma Road, between 23 and 30¾ stations on 2 deck looking forward from 30 station. On the left are the door to the communications control transmitting room, the open watertight hatch leading down to the junior rates' mess on 3 deck, the auxiliary generator and the fire party cupboard. On the right is an international compressed air breathing apparatus cupboard, the sliding door to the stabiliser and plane converter compartment and the open watertight hatch to the 4.5 inch magazine on 3 deck. The gun bay bulkhead has a tannoy and an automatic emergency lantern against it. A vertical format negative.
