The Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960). On the starboard side of the forecastle or 1 deck.

On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is standing on the starboard side of the forecastle (1 deck) at 25 station looking aft and to port showing the front of the superstructure and enclosed bridge with the replenishment at sea tripod in its stowed position. The deck is cluttered with hoses and discarded hardboard sheeting. A Portsmouth registered Ford Cortina estate motor car 910 CTP is on the quayside. A vertical format negative.
