On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is on the starboard side of the flight deck at 60 station on 1 deck looking forward showing the door to the torpedo maintenance room closed but not clipped. To the left of the door are the wind speed and wind direction indicators and to the right are the sprinkler system control valves. The ventilation unit doors at 01 level are open. The photographer's description of this negative is 'F.D.O's secondary position.'
