On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is on the starboard side of 1 deck looking forward from 57 station showing the ammunitioning derrick in its stowed position against the bulkhead of the torpedo maintenance room and torpedo stowage compartments between 52 and 56 stations. Alongside the west side of the basin are a tank cleaning vessel converted from a trawler and a modern water boat. A vertical format negative.
