The Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960). The superstructure and bridge front from the forecastle (1 deck).

On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is standing on the port side of the forecastle (1 deck) at 24 station looking aft and slightly to starboard showing the front of the superstructure and enclosed bridge with the replenishment at sea tripod in its stowed position. The port side liferaft stowage by the side of the enclosed bridge is empty. An industrial hoisting bucket, some wooden packing cases and a small stack of flat packed material are on the deck.
