On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the passageway, known as the Burma Road, between 49 and 63 stations on 2 deck looking aft and to port from 57 station showing the door to the junior rates' bathroom on the right and against the bulkhead are a fire extinguisher, three fire hose stowage racks, a damage control breathing apparatus cabinet, a transformer, an automatic emergency lantern, a tannoy and various distribution and fuse panels and boxes. The arched opening at 61½ station is on the left. A vertical format negative.
