On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the communications control room (receiving) between 25 and 28 stations on the port side of 2 deck looking aft and to port from 27 station showing a frequency cabinet with an air conditioning unit above it and a desk with a loudspeaker control unit above it and a combination safe under it. On the table in the corner is a mechanically ventilated electrical unit on shock absorbing mountings. A vertical format negative.
