On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the communications control room (receiving) between 25 and 28 stations on the port side of 2 deck looking aft and to starboard from 26 station showing eight identical units labelled CJA 1 to CJA 8. Each of these units comprises a receiver radio cabinet 5820-99-916-4679 and a synthesiser electrical frequency cabinet 5820-99-916-4675 and the CJA outfit is designed for unattended reception. A vertical format negative.
