On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the amplifier compartment between 34 and 35¾ stations on the port side of 2 deck looking to port and slightly forward showing a desk with an Imperial 66 typewriter on it on the right with an amplifier cabinet next to it. Another amplifier cabinet is on the left with a transformer and an automatic emergency lantern in the left foreground. A vertical format negative.
