On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the torpedo stowage compartment between 51½ and 54 stations on the starboard side of 1 deck looking aft and to starboard from 52 station showing stowage for six helicopter launched torpedoes against the port side with two No. 2 trolleys below them. Against the aft bulkhead are a switch socket for a monitor, a fire extinguisher, a locker for fitted depth charge pistols and unfitted primers and stowages for steadying lines and ramps.
