On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the torpedo maintenance room between 54 and 57 stations on the starboard side of 1 deck looking aft and to starboard from 54 station showing a padlocked cupboard with a notice board fixed to the door, steel ramps, three fire extinguishers, an H.P. air or nitrogen pressure testing instrument board and a workbench. A torpedo cradle is on the deck.
