On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the torpedo maintenance room between 54 and 57 stations on the starboard side of 1 deck looking forward and slightly to port from 56½ station showing shelves above stowage for a pair of wheeled steel frame trolleys on the port side. In the forward bulkhead is the closed but unclipped door to the torpedo stowage room and alongside it is the loading trolley lifting bar, a first aid cabinet, stowage brackets for ½ inch bore hose and a notice board. A workbench is on the right and a torpedo cradle is on the deck.
