On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the hangar between 49 and 57 stations on 1 deck looking to starboard from in the forward alcove at 49 station showing a cupboard fitted for removable steel drawers and only one drawer is in the unit. This is described by the photographer as the A.S.C., possibly the air stores cupboard. Above the cupboard is an area labelled 'Torpedo carrier stowage'. Four coat hangers are on the forward bulkhead which has the location identifier 5K21 on it. A vertical format negative.
