On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is on the flight deck at 59 station on the port side of 1 deck looking forward at the hangar showing the F.D.O's [flight direction officer's?] window in the hangar at 57 station. A clock inside the hangar is readin 10.47. Three telephones are outside the hangar door and two men are painting the hangar bulkhead. A striped awning has been rigged over the flight deck. A vertical format negative.
