On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the senior rates' mess between 16 and 21½ stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking to starboard from near the door at 19½ station showing an 'L' shaped wooden settee bench, a folding table, two tubular folding armchairs and a double bunk unit rigged for sitting. Four wooden sliding door cupboards are against the starboard side of the ship.
