On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the senior rates' mess between 16 and 21½ stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking forward from 19 station showing two triple tier bunk units with kit lockers and an ironing board against the forward bulkhead and coats hanging up against the rear of other triple tier bunk units. The rate badge on one of the coats is for a petty officer radio electrical mechanician 2nd or 3rd class. A vertical format negative.
