On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the senior rates' mess between 16 and 21½ stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking to port from the starboard side at 16½ station showing kit lockers against the forward bulkhead and a triple tier bunk unit against the port bulkhead. Floor coverings, lamp shades, a tool chest and a pair of boots are dumped on the lower bunk. A vertical format negative.
