On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the senior rates' dining hall between 49 and 52 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking forward and to port showing the entrance door on the left with rows of coat hooks on the adjoining bulkhead. A notice board, an electric fire, a Thermotank air conditioning unit and a refrigerator are against the bulkheads. A table and tubular chairs are athwartships.
