On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the weapons workshop between 16 and 19 stations on the starboard side of 3 deck looking forward and to starboard showing the workbench against the ship's side. It is equipped with a Samsonia Perfect model J37 vice and a toolbox is in the corner. An air conditioning unit is above the workbench and nests of drawers are below the bench. A distribution box is against the forward bulkhead. A vertical format negative.
