On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the operations room between 31¼ and 35½ stations on 1 deck looking to starboard from near the centreline at 32 station showing a fire extinguisher in the left foreground with telephones against the forward bulkhead. On the right is a wooden worktop on top of a large electrical cabinet with power units beyond it. A vertical format negative.
