On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is looking aft and up at the port side of the timber and whaler oar stowage between 45 and 46 stations on 01 deck from 44 station on 1 deck. The oar stowage is in the lower section and the timber stowage is in the upper section. A boiler room ventilator is behind the racks.
