On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is looking aft, up and to starboard at the timber and whaler oar stowage between 45 and 46 stations on 01 deck from 44 station on the port side of 1 deck. The oar stowage is in the lower section and the timber stowage is in the upper section. The vegetable locker and the diving gear store are below the racks and the funnel is on the left.
