On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the wheelhouse between 27½ and 29 stations on 1 deck looking forward and to port showing the telemotor transmitter and the port engine order transmitter in the left foreground and the starboard engine order transmitter in the right foreground. The steering motor alarm bell, gyro compass repeater and A.G.M.C. 6 repeater are against the forward bulkhead. A vertical format negative.
