The Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960). The Mark 10 Limbo mortar well between 67 and 71 stations on 2 deck.
On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is on the port side of the quarterdeck (2 deck) at 73 station looking forward into the Mark 10 limbo mortar well. The watertight hatch down to the lobby on 3 deck and the door to main passageway, known as the Burma Road, are open. The quartermaster's communications station is on the left, as is a fire hose stowage rack. A striped awning has been rigged over the flight deck. A vertical format negative.
