On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the electrical maintenance room at 41 station on the port side of 1 deck looking forward and to starboard showing a nest of drawers on the left labelled Rack No. 3 and a similar rack on the right labelled Rack No. 1. In the centre is a worktop with a cupboard and nest of drawers under and three power points above. In the starboard forward corner is an automatic emergency lantern and a telephone. A vertical format negative.
