On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the electronic warfare office between 35½ and 38¼ stations on 1 deck looking aft and to port from 36½ station on the starboard side showing the FH5 Outfit cabinet on the left. An electric fire is against the aft bulkhead and a cupboard and worktop are in the aft port corner. On the right is the operator's position for the UA3 Outfit, including an intercom unit and a morse key.
