On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the electronic warfare office between 35½ and 38¼ stations on 1 deck looking forward and to port from 37 station on the starboard side showing the operator's position for the UA3 Outfit, including an intercom unit and a morse key, on the left. Against the forward bulkhead are two operators' positions, both with morse keys and the nearest one having a pair of CAY/CAZ B40 and B41 receivers.
