On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the electronic warfare office between 35½ and 38¼ stations on 1 deck looking forward and to starboard from 37 station on the starboard side showing a worktop against the forward bulkhead with a small telephone exchange above it. Against the starboard bulkhead is a large telephone exchange, a dimmer panel, and automatic emergency lantern and an REM(3) outfit recorder switch and supply switch.
