On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the air electrical maintenance room between 50 and 54 stations on the starboard side of 01 deck looking aft from 52 station. Work benches, cupboards and shelves are on both sides of the room. Two electric fires, a fire extinguisher, an automatic emergency lantern and a Thermotank air conditioning unit are on the aft bulkhead.
