On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the electrical maintenance room between 39 and 42 stations on 1 deck looking aft from 40 station showing the workbench with drawers and cupboards under against the aft bulkhead. Six switch sockets, four servicing sockets, a 24 volt D.C. socket, a telephone and a composite communications unit case are at the back of the bench. A shelf laden with various generator signal boxes is above the work bench.
