On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the main communications office between 32¼ and 35 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking forward and to starboard from 34 station showing Broadcast Bay 3 and Tactical Bay 4. Broadcast Bay 3 is equipped with two Powquip teleprinters without keyboards. Tactical Bay 4 is equipped with two Powquip teleprinters with keyboards and also a morse key.
