On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the main communications office between 32¼ and 35 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft and to starboard from 33 station showing the fly bulkhead with telephone and radio exchanges mounted on it as well as an electric fire, a combination safe, a noticeboard and a fuse panel. A full height cupboard with a combination lock is on the extreme right. Cardboard boxes are stacked on the left, including two marked 'Airlite 62 headset'. A vertical format negative.
