The Type 12 frigate HMS Lowestoft (1960). In the main communications office between 32¼ and 35 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck.

On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the main communications office between 32¼ and 35 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft and to starboard into the corner from 33½ station. The position of the rating in charge is just in front of the photographer and his telephone and microphone can be seen in the foreground. A nest of pigeon holes, a rectifier unit and fuse panels are against the aft bulkhead. Against the ship's side is Bay 6, the ship/shore bay, equipped with a Powquip keyboard teleprinter and a CJC radio unit. An equipment state board is mounted on the end of the B.I.D. racks on the left.
