On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the sonar control room between 35¼ and 39 stations on the starboard side of 1 deck looking forward and to starboard showing two operators' positions against the forward bulkhead and one position against the ship's starboard side. Terminal boxes, fuse panels and starter panels are in the centre of the picture against the ship's side.
