On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the sonar control room between 35¼ and 39 stations on the starboard side of 1 deck looking aft on the starboard side at 36 station showing the four operators' positions on the starboard side. Various terminal boxes, two of which have the covering panel removed, sonar dome control boxes and a 10-way intercom switch box are against the aft bulkheads. The raised platform for the officer-in-charge is on the right. A vertical format negative.
