On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the senior rates' mess between 61½ and 67 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft from near the centreline at 62½ station showing a triple tier bunk unit in the foreground and a double tier bunk unit over a wooden storage chest. Kit lockers are on the right and an air conditioning unit is at the end. A vertical format negative.
