On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the senior rates' mess between 61½ and 67 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft from the starboard side at 62½ station showing two triple tier and two double tier bunk units. An electric fire, an air conditioning unit and a hatch into the fan chamber are on the aft bulkhead. A vertical format negative.
