On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the senior rates' mess between 61½ and 67 stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking to starboard from 62 station showing kit lockers on the left against the forward bulkhead. Triple tier bunk units are on the right. A glass fronted cupboard is against the ship's side. A vertical format negative.
