On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the transmitting station between 26 and 28¼ stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft and to port from 27 station showing the door to the transmitting station annexe on the left. A fire extinguisher, an automatic emergency lantern, three armament loudspeakers, a fire gong, a fall of shot rattler, two dimmer panels and a locker are against the aft bulkhead. Armament communications microphone circuit boxes, telephones, a KMP radio remote control unit and a key cupboard are against the port bulkhead. A vertical format negative.
