On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the transmitting station between 26 and 28¼ stations on the starboard side of 2 deck looking aft and slightly to starboard from 27 station showing an MRS 3 Mod 3 T.S.O. panel on which a Dymotape label has been stuck reading 'Gilbert Thomas Straun Robertson in attendance'. Robertson was supposedly the Squadron Mechanic at the time (see negative number N65256). Below this panel is a Mark 9 PU firing control unit. An U.V. flash unit and various boxes and panels relating to gunnery control are also against the aft bulkhead. A vertical format negative.
