On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the conversion machinery and radar power room between 31 and 35½ stations on the starboard side of 3 deck looking forward and to port showing two dual output motor generators, a director metadyne and a motor generator beyond the pillar on which hoses and cables are stored on brackets. Various starter panels, fuse boxes and control units are against the port and forward bulkheads.
