On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the regulating office between 54½ and 56 stations on the port side of 2 deck looking to port. A desk, cupboards and kit locker are against the aft bulkhead and the diary on the desk is open at the week commencing 24 May 1970. A glazed and framed notice on the desk warns about duty free tobacco etc. Against the forward bulkhead is a settee bench, a wash basin and an air conditioing unit. Against the ship's side is a kit locker keyboard and the scuttle is closed. A vertical format negative.
