On board the Type 12 frigate Lowestoft (1960) in No. 3 basin at Chatham Dockyard near the end of her modernisation which commenced 15 March 1968 and finished 31 May 1970. She was in the basin throughout May 1970. The photographer is in the passageway, known as the Burma Road, between 41 and 49 stations on 2 deck looking aft from 46 station showing the closed but not clipped watertight door at 49 station. Cable stowage brackets, three starter panels, an emergency change over switch and connection box, a switch box and a supply panel are against the boiler downtake bulkhead on the left. A smoke mask box, an emergency change over switch and connection box and a supply panel are on the right ahead of the watertight hatch which leads down into the boiler room. A vertical format negative.
